About Cimentar Futuro

Laying the foundations African youth and diaspora communities deserve.

To lay foundations that support the development of long lasting infrastructures across Africa and African communities alike through grassroot innovations, for African youth and diaspora changemakers.

Our Story

Laying foundations young Africans and the diaspora can build on.

It all started in Lagos, Nigeria—Supporting, mentoring and counselling the youth and realizing how transformative real development and support guidance can be. It was discovered that the problem is larger than one entity or one individual can solve. So Cimentar Futuro was born to scale what we've figured out and help thousands of talented youths—across Africa, and the diaspora—access the opportunities that should be available to everyone.

01 · The Problem We Saw

What Sparked Our Mission

Imagine graduating with excellent grades, only to discover that employers want something your school never taught you. Imagine having a brilliant idea for a business but not knowing a single person in the industry. Imagine being talented but invisible because you grew up outside the circles where opportunities flow.

This is the reality for millions of young Africans and diaspora youth. Not because they lack talent. Not because they don't work hard. But because the bridge between what they learn and what the world needs simply doesn't exist.

We saw this gap. And we decided to build a bridge.

02 · What We're Building

Three Pillars of Change

We've learned from mentoring 50+ youth that real transformation happens through three things:

Development Forum — Intensive, practical training in the skills employers and communities actually need, including care and support and infrastructure trades. Not textbooks. Real tools for landing jobs and building careers.

Opportunity Blueprint Podcast — Direct access to the stories of people who've built what you dream about, from caregivers and site engineers to founders and coders. Proof that it's possible. Inspiration that sticks.

Community & Mentorship — A network where you're not alone. Real mentors. Real peers. Real accountability. Volunteer-led community projects, where the people we train put their skills to work locally. This is where lasting change happens.

Running through all three is one idea: strong communities need people who can care for others and the lasting foundations, physical and social, that let those places grow. We back that work in our own communities first.

We're just getting started. Every person we mentor teaches us how to build this better. Every success story shows us we're on the right path.

Our Approach

Three things set us apart—and why they matter.

Skills That Get Jobs

Not theory. We teach what employers actually hire for—communication, problem-solving, leadership—because classroom skills alone won't cut it.

Mentors Who Care

Not advisors. Real working professionals who've been where you are, who'll call you back, and who'll help you navigate the bumpy road to your first job or business.

A Growing Community

You're not alone. Connect with peers, mentors, and changemakers who are building careers, starting businesses, and lifting each other up.

Our Charitable Objects

What the charity exists to do.

These are the charitable purposes in the charity's constitution, which is being finalised for registration with the Charity Commission. Our programmes, partnerships and publications are designed to serve them.

01

The advancement of community development by supporting, funding and building the capacity for grassroots, youth-led innovation and infrastructure across Africa and African communities, so as to lay lasting foundations for sustainable local development;

02

The advancement of education for African youth and diaspora communities, through training, mentorship and practical resources in innovation, enterprise and community-building, that equip them as changemakers able to design and deliver lasting local solutions;

03

The relief of poverty and promotion of economic independence for young African and diaspora youth who are in financial need, through grants, bursaries and practical support that enable them to secure employment, entrepreneurship or a sustainable livelihood;

04

The conduct of research and publication of evidence on grassroots innovation and community infrastructure outcomes for African youth and diaspora communities, to advance public understanding and inform policy and practice.

How We Work

Built with communities, not for them.

Grassroots means the people closest to a problem help design its solution. That shapes every initiative we fund or run.

01

Listen

We start with the young people and communities we work with, not a finished plan handed down to them.

02

Plan

Together, we shape a plan with a clear goal and a named lead accountable for it — not a generic template.

03

Build Together

Funding, mentorship and practical support go in. Young people and local partners build it out.

04

Stay Accountable

We report back on what was raised, what it funded and what changed — to the community, and to our trustees.

How We Choose Our Work

Lasting help, not one-off help.

One-off help meets this month's need. A skill a youth keeps, or a network that keeps meeting after the course ends, meets next year's. Every programme we run answers four questions before it starts.

01

Who is it for?

A named group of youth, not a general audience.

02

What lasts after the cohort leaves?

Skills, materials and networks that keep working without us.

03

Who runs it?

A named lead, accountable for it after launch.

04

What do we learn?

Each programme feeds what we change next time.

Be part of our story.

Whether you mentor, partner or give, you help a young African or diaspora changemaker lay the foundations of a future built to last.
